Will rectal irrigation make me low in salts in my body?

There is no clinical evidence to suggest that salt levels in the colon are affected. Rectal irrigation assists the bowel to clear stool contents using only water. The mucous membrane of the rectum and colon is extremely porous and can at times absorb the water if you are dehydrated but not flush anything out.  Remember that moving your bowels in general should not deplete the salts in your colon and irrigation with water is to establish a normal and not excessive routine.
