WELCOME TO USING THE QUFORA IRRISEDO MINI SYSTEM
The Qufora IrriSedo Mini system is a simple one handed system for rectal irrigation which is used while sitting on or over the toilet. A hand pump is filled with lukewarm water and a rectal cone is inserted into the rectum.
By squeezing the hand pump once, water flows into the rectum. A non-return valve prevents water from running back into the system. When the cone is removed water and faeces will evacuate into the toilet.
The Qufora IrriSedo Mini system is designed for people who need only a small amount of water when irrigating. The single use cone makes rectal irrigation easy and hygienic – at home, at work or on holiday.
In order to gain continence and prevent constipation it is recommended to perform rectal irrigation daily or every other day.
When you perform rectal irrigation with the Qufora IrriSedo Mini system on a regular basis you will gain control over your bowel movements, avoid constipation, and reduce the time spent on the toilet.
The Qufora IrriSedo Mini system is simple to learn, easy to handle and discreet. It is supplied on prescription in a box with one hand pump and 15 rectal hydrophilic cones. The rectal cones are single use.
The systems includes:
- Hand pump
- Hydrophilic cones
Also available is the Qufora IrriSedo Extension Tube. The extension tube is an accessory to allow easier use or to deliver an increased volume of water (approx 120ml).

USEFUL TIPS USING THE QUFORA IRRISEDO MINI SYSTEM
Tip 1
Make sure you fill the pump completely to get the most effective irrigation.
Tip 2
Squeeze the pump only once in the rectum to ensure you do not pump air in.
Tip 3
Always make sure to drink plenty of water. If your water balance is too low, this may result in the irrigation water being retained and absorbed by the bowel.
Tip 4
An adult should drink between 1.5 and 2 litres of water every day, more if the weather is hot.

If you have excessive pain or bleeding seek immediate medical advice.
However, minor bleeding can be due to trauma from catheter insertion. Remember to lubricate the catheter and insert the catheter slowly and gently into the rectum.
If minor bleeding or pain persists contact your healthcare professional.
Ensure the catheter is inserted far enough into the rectum but not as far as the clear disc at the end of the catheter.
If you have only used one full pump of water you can pump one more time to help create a better seal.
Wait for a few more minutes, you can try coughing and massaging your abdomen, this can help to start the bowel moving.
Sometimes you may be dehydrated and the water absorbs into the bowel lining. If this persists contact your healthcare professional.
This may be something that happens in the early stages of irrigation when the bowel is quite full. It may be resolved after using irrigation for a while.
Your healthcare professional will be able to advise you further.
