IrriSedo Balloon System

WELCOME TO USING THE QUFORA IRRISEDO BALLOON SYSTEM

The Qufora IrriSedo Balloon system has a unique water-filled rectal balloon catheter allowing easier retention of the catheter in the rectum while the water is being instilled.

It is designed for rectal irrigation seated on or over a toilet. This system is suitable for patients who have difficulty keeping a cone in place or need a better seal to instil the irrigation water.

The control unit is easy and straight forward to teach and use. It follows a simple 1, 2, 3, 4 sequence, so you will find it easy to follow.

The Qufora IrriSedo Balloon catheters now have a hydrophilic coating. This means that the catheters no longer require gel for lubrication, you simply either dip the catheters in water or run them under a tap to activate the coating. This should make the irrigation process a lot smoother.

The Qufora IrriSedo Balloon system is simple to learn and easy to handle.

The system includes:

  • water bag
  • control unit with the pump
  • tube
  • hydrophilic coated rectal balloon catheters (regular or small)
  • velcro strap

The base set includes:

  • 1 control unit with velcro strap, 1 water bag, 2 hydrophilic rectal balloon catheters

The accessory set contains:

USEFUL TIPS USING THE QUFORA IRRISEDO BALLOON SYSTEM

Tip 1

Fill the water bag with approx. 300mls of water more than you need to irrigate.

Tip 2

If required, attach the control unit strap to the thigh.

Tip 3

Always make sure to drink the plenty of water. If your water balance is too low, this may result in the irrigation water being retained and absorbed by the bowel.

Tip 4

An adult should drink between 1.5 and 2 litres of water every day, more if the weather is hot.

If you have excessive pain or bleeding seek immediate medical advice.

However, minor bleeding can be due to trauma from catheter insertion. Remember to lubricate the catheter and insert the catheter slowly and gently into the rectum.

If minor bleeding or pain persists contact your healthcare professional.

Ensure the catheter is inserted far enough into the rectum but not as far as the clear disc at the end of the catheter.

If you have only used one full pump of water you can pump one more time to help create a better seal.

Wait for a few more minutes, you can try coughing and massaging your abdomen, this can help to start the bowel moving.

Sometimes you may be dehydrated and the water absorbs into the bowel lining. If this persists contact your healthcare professional.

Use bottled water or cooled boiled water.

This may be something that happens in the early stages of irrigation when the bowel is quite full. It may be resolved after using irrigation for a while.

Your healthcare professional will be able to advise you further.
