If you are finding your cone or rectal catheter painful to insert, make sure you have activated the built-in lubricant by dipping it into warm tap water first, before you insert it into your bottom. The lubricant makes the cone or catheter more comfortable to insert and remove.
Some conditions, such as anal fissure or haemorrhoids, can make inserting your cone or catheter uncomfortable. Never force it in if it is painful. Stop irrigating until you have spoken to your health care professional for further advice.
